One of the biggest reasons’ women exercise is to lose weight, and funnily enough one of the biggest reasons’ women stop exercise, is because they are not losing weight. Often the reason for giving up is not down to lack of effort or commitment, but can be simply down to your thought patterns and how you process information about exercising. If you think of exercise as a chore, something you must get done, and not enjoyable, it can leave you not looking forward to it and feeling you deserve a reward once you have completed it! Unfortunately, the reward is often much greater than the energy you expended to earn it! And so begins a cycle which leads you to believe you are not getting anywhere! So, what if you thought of exercise itself as a reward? Why not challenge and change how you think about exercising? Instead of seeing it as a chore or something that must be endured to reach an end goal, why not reframe these thoughts. Make a list for yourself of all the rewards your body and mind will receive from regularly exercising. Here are 5 great reasons to get started! Try adding to these and keep them at the forefront of your mind before you exercise. Being aware of your thoughts and consciously reminding yourself about the positives of exercising, can slowly change how you think and feel about it, so you no longer need a reward, as the effects of exercising itself becomes your reward.
